Heard of Mist Cleansing?

Have you heard of mist cleansing? Because I hadn't heard of mist cleansing until today when I received weekly catelogue from Korea's No.1 online shopping mall. (www.11st.co.kr)

Since researchers and cosmetic companies have prooved that if you regularly touch your skin with your hands your skin is likely to get more wrinkles. And because of this some female celebrities refuse to use pillow while they sleep.

So this is how mist cleanser works. Basically you spray the mist on your face and rub it off lightly. This way you won't have to rub your hands all over your face to apply the cleanser. Very smart I thought.

This product is called Scinic Total Cleansing Treatment and costs around US$16.00. I believe we will see similar products in US, Europe and Australasia very soon.

So look out for it!

Mistian Facial Mist

I have picked Mistian because I have a friend who is from South Korea and loves this product.

I heard they are launching their product in Australia and New Zealand this year.

So here is the details of my experiment:

My skin type - Normal skin
Lengths of use - 7 days
Purchase price - NZ$ 15 for 50mL with free delivery
Delivery length - Overnight

Mistian prides itself for having the best spray system that disperses mists 3 times finer than other facial mist sprays. And it does have very fine mist and I really like how it comes out of the nozzle. Very quiet and covers very wide area. Just one spray covered all the skin on my face...

I used Mistian straight after washing my face and its why I love facial mists so much. It really does moisturise your skin very well. But its important to put on your day cream over the top.

So enough about myself and here is what I think of Mistian Facial Spray.
- Moisturisation 10/10, when used regularly.
- Anti-wrinkle feature 5/10, I didn't try long enough to know and plus I don't have any wrinkles.
- Refreshing 9/10, feels like walking into morning mist. You can store in fridge too!
- Scent 2/10, it is unscented. They say this is because it is regularly used on top of make up which already has scent.
- Make up definition 8/10, it does look more glossy and natural when you use Mistian over your make up. And also don't forget to use before you put on your base because it goes on much smoother.

In overall I rate Mistian Facial Mist 8/10, if it had bit more aroma it would be perfect. Now I understand why its selling so well in Asia.

Anastasia Blue Lotus Facial Mist

I have never seen this myself but it popped up when I was researching different facial mist products.
I have just bought one online from Anastasia Beverly Hills website so will have to wait until it arrives from Beverly Hills to New Zealand. Hope it doesn't take very long.

Till then you will just have to believe what www.mystyle.com have to say about this product.

THEY SAY: Boost the appearance of your skin by spritzing on this perfect fusion of hydrating water and soothing serum of botanical and flower extracts from South Africa.
WE SAY: Keep reading for reviews from Style staffers!

Pros: It served as a light moisturizer.
Cons:
It stung pretty badly. Using a cotton ball is the best way for application.
—Roseann M., International

Pros: It has a light, fresh scent that is quite enjoyable. It felt cool and crisp on my skin after a day out in the sun.
Cons: Although it felt nice, there was no noticeable difference in the appearance of my skin. I feel like a nice spritz of cold water and a cup of coffee would almost do the same thing.
—Lindsay S., Photo

Pros: The cooling mist did a great job refreshing my face, especially after blow-drying my hair. It also seemed to help keep my makeup on longer throughout the day. I loved the great smell.
Cons: The frugalista within would not have allowed the purchase of something that was so nonessential.
—Kate Y., International

Bottom Line: Anastasia's Blue Lotus Facial Mist is a great pick-me-up. But in these tough economic times, it's probably best to keep a simple water spray handy when the temperature rises.

Evian Facial Mist

Evian is probably the most known Facial mist around the world. Here is the review that I found on the internet.

I will post my review once I purchase it. Not very common where I live. Will have to buy from ebay or Trade Me!

Overview

One of the latest trends in skin care is actually very simple; the facial mist. The Evian Facial Mist’s primary product claim is to simply hydrate the skin, but many believe that this will also contribute to fighting wrinkles. Is the Evian Facial Mist the anti-aging solution for you? If you’re already suffering from mild to severe wrinkles, hydrating the skin probably won’t make too much of a difference there. Typically, the Evian mineral water spray is considered more of a skin “treat” than a serious, effective treatment.
Evian Facial Mist is advertised as being suitable for both a user’s face and a user’s hair. The product is basically an atomizer filled with water. If your skin is feeling extra dry, spraying this purified water onto your skin is supposed to make it feel better hydrated and healthier. Similarly, a few squirts form the Evian Facial Mist can also bring dried out hair back to life. Evian Facial Mist is also suitable for athletic settings, and it could be good for cooling off in the middle of a game. Evian Facial Mist is advertised as being a good addition to any beach bag as well. After prolonged sun exposure, a nice misting can be a good way to sooth the skin and keep it from cracking.

Product Details

Evian Facial Mist is basically a repackaged water bottle. Evian is banking on their high brand recognition to sell this product. No one seems to be saying that using the Evian Facial Mist will erase any wrinkles, simply that it can be a refreshing addition to your beauty routine. Settings suggested for the use of Evian Facial Mist include offices (especially those with heavy climate control that could dry out skin), the beach and during athletic events when a user may want to cool down. The product seems to retail for $10 for a 5 oz. spray bottle

The Good

  • Evian Facial Mist is all natural, since the only ingredient is mineral water.
  • Evian Facial Mist is available form numerous online retailers, as well as in big name drugstores across the country.

The Bad

  • Evian Facial Mist does not claim to be particularly effective at treating facial wrinkles.
  • At $10 for 5 ounces of water, the Evian Facial Mist will probably be a bit of a luxury for many consumres.
  • While a light mist can be nice, realistically it could get your clothes wet in an office or other professional setting, which probably isn’t what many consumers are looking for.

The Bottom Line

As we said above, Evian Facial Mist is more of a treat than a serious skin treatment. To their credit, Evian don’t claim to be anything else. How well this repackaged water will appeal to consumers remains to be seen, however.

Benefits of Facial Mist Sprays

There are two main benefits of facial mist sprays -- they can temporarily change the appearance of your skin, and, since they're usually cool and pleasantly fragranced, they can help you feel good. Some sprays are marketed as being able to temporarily give you a dewy glow if your skin is feeling dried, and others designed by cosmetic companies may help set or refresh your makeup. Keep in mind, though, that many of the ingredients added to sprays can't actually be absorbed by your skin. So, while a mist might set your makeup or brighten your face for a little while, it's not going to make a lot of physical improvements to your skin.
Aromatherapy, the use of essential oils extracted from plants, might be another reason to use a facial mist spray [source: Hawkins and Ehrlich]. Many alternative medicine practitioners say certain scents can be effective against depression, anxiety, insomnia or exhaustion, although in some cases scientific evidence is inconclusive. If you choose a facial mist for this reason, be sure to read the ingredients list carefully. Several essential oils, such as cinnamon, can cause irritation or breakouts when applied to the skin.
Be careful about overusing facial sprays. When you mist your face, the water evaporates, which can dry your skin -- think of the way your lips become chapped if you lick them too often. Also, some added ingredients might dry your skin out by stripping away the protective layer of oil, or sebum. If you find a spray that contains moisturizer or if you moisturize shortly before or after you spritz, you can help guard your skin's moisture level. Also, keep in mind that, although a sunscreen-containing mist is probably better than no sunscreen at all, a mist might not cover your skin thoroughly enough to really protect you from the sun.

Types of Facial Mist

If you'd like to try out a facial mist, you have a lot of options. You can pick which one you want to try by looking at the type of water used as a base and the added ingredients the mist contains.
First, consider what kind water is used. Evian -- well known for its bottled waters -- was among the first to hit upon the idea of putting mineral drinking water in a canister with nitrogen to propel it toward your face. In fact, Evian's spray was first designed for medical use in hospitals and burn units [source: Loxley]. Depending on the brand, the water might contain different minerals such as calcium or magnesium in different concentrations. Other mist sprays use spring water, ocean water or simple purified water. Most of this is up to your personal preference -- many of the compounds that water can contain can't be absorbed through your skin.
Next, look at the rest of the ingredients the mist contains. Some mists are just water and a propellant. Others contain herbs, oils and extracts touted to firm up, moisturize, invigorate or have some other effect on your skin. Many mists also contain sunscreen -- always a good idea -- so that you can moisturize and add some extra skin protection on top of your makeup.
If you're a fan of aromatherapy, you can look for a spray with essential oils or herbal extracts. Which one you choose is primarily based on what smells good to you and what mood or feeling you're trying to conjure.

Introduction to Facial Mist

Facial mist sprays are just what they sound like: misting bottles or atomizers filled with a liquid designed to soothe, moisturize, relax or rejuvenate your face. They may contain sunscreen, minerals, antioxidants or other ingredients that nourish and protect your skin. Many of them also smell good or, in fancier language, contain aromatherapy oils thought to encourage different moods.
Of course, for the mist effect to work, the main ingredient in all of those little bottles must be water. Some products contain mineral water and others use plain old H2O. You can use them if your face is feeling parched after a dehydrating plane trip, if your makeup has begun to wilt during the day or if you simply want a little spritz of something cool and refreshing.
Up Next

Mists that are simply mineral water usually cost around $10 to $15, but if you want to buy an upscale version from a big-name cosmetic brand, prices will be higher. There are lots of options: you can go organic or drugstore with many stops in between. And, because facial mist sprays are basically water, you can be thrifty and make your own
Some researchers and consumers have questioned whether a product that is basically just a spray bottle filled with water is really worth the cost. But several kinds of facial mists with multiple purposes continue to sell after years on the market, and many repeat buyers swear by them.
